Nancy Quill...Patriots Day

Patriots Day means the Marathon, Boston Strong, baseball, the beginning of school vacation, hurry and get your taxes done and finally, eat those leftover marshmallow peeps before they start feeling like a rock. But there’s also the original reason we celebrate Patriots Day around here. We commemorate the start of the Revolutionary War and the “shot heard ‘round the world.” In fact that little bit of history is re-enacted each year in Lexington. So while we cheer on the runners, remember the events of four years ago, watch to see if that ball is fair or foul, find some fun things to do with the kids, check for a possible tax refund or throw those hard peeps in the trash, let’s take some time to reflect on a moment in U.S history that shaped the future of our country. And it took place right here in our own backyard.
