Demi Lovato Is Being Recognized For Her Mental Health Advocacy Work

Demi Lovato has been an outspoken advocate for the proper treatment of mental health issues.

The singer was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2011, eventually heading to rehab. Since then she’s spoken candidly about her struggles, while advocating for accessible treatment options for those facing similar mental health concerns.

Lovato’s hard work will soon be recognized when she’s presented with the Artistic Award of Courage at the Open Mind Gala. The event is put on by the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior at the University of California, Los Angeles, and will take place at the end of the month.
