Blake Lively may be an award-winning actress who is married to one of People’s Sexiest Men Alive but it turns out she’s just as much of a Spice Girls superfan as the rest of us.
When Lively took to the stage to give her acceptance speech during this year’s People’s Choice Awards, she dedicated a solid portion of her time to talking about how the platform shoes-wearing girl group inspired her.
Seriously, how could you not love the Spice Girls’ girl power message and irresistibly catchy music? Lively’s words were more than just a tribute to Scary, Baby, Sporty, Ginger, and Posh, though. The girl power theme was an important one from start to finish during Lively’s speech. In fact, she wrapped up by saying, “Tell your stories, now more than ever. You need to be heard. You are valuable, and no one can limit you.”
She also made sure to thank husband Ryan Reynolds before she departed, which drew plenty of appreciative shrieks from the crowd. Check out Lively’s speech (and her gorgeous beaded dress) below:
