While slightly different from the entertaining and educational choices listed above, this app is an important one. If your kids are old enough to spend time out and about on their own, this personal safety app is worth a download. If they’re feeling nervous for any reason, they open SafeTrek and hold their thumb on the “safe” button. Once they feel comfortable in their surroundings again, they release the button and enter a pin number. If the situation turns scary, they release the button but avoid entering the pin. This sends a signal to police, who are instantly notified of their location, with no bells or whistles or alarms to alert those causing the danger.

How To: SafeTrek App

The SafeTrek App is a personal safety app where people who are alone walking to their car or from downtown to their home can use it as an additional safety precaution. Here is a "How To" on the app and what it entails.
