Some changes are coming to Bon Jovi’s touring lineup.
Per New Jersey’s WRAT, Matt O’Ree has been hired as the new rhythm guitarist for the band replacing Bobby Bandiera who’s been on board since 2005. O’Ree is joining lead guitarist Phil X who replaced Richie Sambora in 2013.
Of course, this news comes on the heels of Bon Jovi’s tour dates in China being suddenly canceled.
In an announcement from AEG China, the Shanghai and Beijing shows, which would be the first time Bon Jovi would play China in the band’s history, were “canceled for some reason,” and no further explanation was given by AEG.
However, multiple sources are citing that the shows were canceled by China’s Ministry of Culture due to a performance in Taiwan back in 2010 in which Bon Jovi performed in front of a photo of the Dalai Lama. Reports from The Washington Post are also citing problems with the 2009 music video for “We Weren’t Born To Follow” that featured images from the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests.
Long story short, there’s a number of really bummed Bon Jovi fans in China right now, and we can’t imagine just how disappointed they are.
