Elton John will be the subject of a stage musical as well as a film biopic in the coming years.
The John musical will be called “Rocketman,” according to Sally Greene — who runs the Old Vic Theatre in London — and will be produced after the film of the same name, which is set to star “Mad Max’s” Tom Hardy as John. The film is currently in production, while the stage show is some years off although the team that worked with John on his musical adaptation of the film “Billy Elliot” is already on the case.
Greene says “Rocketman” will open on Broadway before coming to England.
