From foraging for wild foods to making her own medicines, Shailene Woodley has become well-recognized for being an Earth-loving free spirit.
But the latest trail she’s blazing has nothing to do with her love of the great outdoors. Well, not entirely, at least.
During the MTV Movie Awards next month, Woodley will be presented with this year’s MTV Trailblazer Award for setting herself apart from the rest of young Hollywood.
Calling her “one of the most talented actresses of this generation,” MTV president Stephen Friedman explained why Woodley was blazing a trailer alongside previous winners like Emma Watson, Emma Stone and Channing Tatum.
“Whether baring her soul in emotionally charged roles in ‘The Descendants’ and ‘The Fault in Our Stars’ or igniting our imagination in sci-fi blockbusters like ‘Insurgent,’ Shailene has raised the bar for actresses navigating diverse and challenging roles professionally, while personally remaining down-to-earth and accessible to her fans,” Friedman said in a statement (via “THR”).
Amy Schumer will emcee the Movie Awards on Sunday, April 12, while Jessie J will host the live pre-show, which begins at 7:30pm.
