Emma Thompson Set as Mrs. Potts in Disney’s “Beauty & the Beast”

Care for a spot of tea? It’s not quite a tale as old as time, but it’s still good news: Emma Thompson has joined the cast of Disney’s live-action “Beauty & the Beast.”

BuzzFeed News reports that Thompson will take over the role of Mrs. Potts from Dame Angela Lansbury in the film, which has now been scheduled for release in March 17, 2017.

Emma Watson, who is set as Belle, teased that she’ll “get to dance to 'Be Our Guest' and sing 'Something There,'” which means Thompson could be responsible for taking the lead on the title track from the soundtrack.

Along with the “Nanny McPhee” writer-star, Kevin Kline will play Maurice, Belle’s father and a kooky inventor, if they’re holding true to the Disney animated classic (along with a big verse in the aforementioned “Be Our Guest”).

The film will also reunite Watson with the “Perks of Being A Wallflower” author and screenwriter, Stephen Chbosky, who will pen the script.

Dan Stevens was previously cast as the Beast, as was Luke Evans in the role of the brutish Gaston.

Is Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts perfect casting or what? And who would you like to see playing Chip? Weigh in below!
