Update: EW reports that Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig have nixed plans for the Lifetime TV movie, “A Deadly Adoption” – which has reportedly already filmed – after the news got out.
“We are deeply disappointed that our planned top secret project was made public,” Ferrell tells EW. “Kristen and I decided it is in the best interest for everyone to forego the project entirely, and we thank Lifetime and all the people who were ready to help us make this film.”
Do you think they’re bluffing?
Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig are making an opportunity of a Lifetime.
According to “The Hollywood Reporter,” they’ve signed on topline a tongue-in-cheek TV movie for the cable network called “A Deadly Adoption.”
Per the “THR” breakdown, the pair will play a married couple who take in a pregnant woman (Jessica Lowndes, “90210”) in order to adopt her baby – “then things quickly go awry.”
The movie, which was secretly filmed and will arrive in early summer, is the network’s loving nod to the over-the-top TV movies they’ve been running for 25 years.
Wiig and Ferrell previously co-starred in IFC’s “The Spoils of Babylon” miniseries, which in and of itself is a parody of those sprawling, epic miniseries like “The Thorn Birds.”
The “Saturday Night Live” star will head back to IFC for “The Spoils Before Dying,” a follow-up miniseries with Ferrell returning as Eric Jonrosh as well.
