Rob Thomas Announces New Solo LP & Tour

With matchbox twenty back on ice after touring to support its 2012 album "North," frontman Rob Thomas is ready to emerge as a solo act again.

Thomas has announced that he'll release his third solo album, the followup to 2009's "Cradlesong," during late summer, although no titles or other details have been announced yet.

But he'll likely preview some of the material earlier in the summer on The Great Unknown 2015 tour, which kicks off June 11 in Orillia, Ontario, and plays 37 dates through August 10 in Morristown, NJ.

Plain White T's will be opening, and the shows will feature both solo and matchbox twenty material as well as "Smooth," Thomas' Grammy Award-winning collaboration with Santana.
