She’s not so new anymore, but that’s OK: “New Girl” has been picked up for a fifth season!
FOX has picked the Zooey Deschanel-led sitcom for another season,
“Four seasons in, ‘New Girl’ continues to be one of the smartest and most relatable comedies on television,” FOX Entertainment President David Madden said in the release. “The writing is razor-sharp, the ensemble is consistently hilarious, and we couldn’t be more proud of Liz, Brett, Dave and the entire ‘New Girl’ team. We absolutely love this show and we’re so excited to bring it back for Season Five.”
With its renewal, “New Girl” joins “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” “Sleepy Hollow,” “Empire,” “Gotham” as the network’s returning live-action slate for the 2015-2016 season.
The show’s Tuesday night counterpart, “The Mindy Project,” remains on the bubble for a season 4 renewal after airing its finale last week.
In its place, FOX will debut “Weird Loners,” a new comedy starring Zachary Knighton (“Happy Endings”) and Becki Newton (“Ugly Betty”) tonight.
