Kelly Clarkson took on a bully who called her a “chunky monkey” this week, but she’s got a little name-calling in her past too.
The day after the iconic 2013 MTV VMAs, Kelly tweeted, “Just saw a couple performances from the VMA's last night. 2 words.... #pitchystrippers.”
It was widely suggested that she was partly referring to Miley Cyrus’s foam finger-waving, teddybear onesie-wearing “We Can’t Stop” Performance, but Kelly’s pulling a Taylor Swift and shrugging her shoulders.
During a round of “Plead the Fifth” on “Watch What Happens Live,” she said with a little snap:
“I never said Miley Cyrus. The fact that I tweeted pitchy stripper and people thought Miley Cyrus is not my problem. I’m just sayin’.”
After calling two of that night’s other performers, Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj, “lovely girls,” she added, “I am not saying who it was. If I say it’s not, then you’re gonna guess somebody else! You’re trying to manipulate me.”
Pressed to pick the superior “Sound of Music” performance, she chose “Carrie Underwood’s over Lady Gaga’s on the technicality that her fellow “Idol” alum did the full show.
